Ruth Vowles
Head of Commercial Delivery
Since 2010 Ruth has been involved in insurance litigation, from managing operations dealing with a wide variety of civil claims to setting up ABS structures and managing transformation change projects.
On a day to day basis Ruth is responsible for growing the business, management of stakeholders and change.

Stuart Tait
Head of Legal Practice
Stuart qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and joined DLG Legal Services at its inception in 2014, having represented individuals seriously injured in accidents for nearly 20 years. Since 2014 he has acted as the firm’s Compliance Officer for Legal Practice and also acts as a statutory director of the business. Stuart is responsible for the firm’s compliance with all legislative and regulatory obligations and for any interactions with Regulators and Ombudsmen as well as developing and managing the risk and compliance framework and supporting the business on wider strategic initiatives. The firm’s Data Protection Officer, Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Quality Assurance and Complaints Manager and Professional Development Manager all currently report to Stuart.

Anthony Sedgwick
Head of Finance
Anthony qualified as an accountant with Deloitte in 2001, before working in a property investment company, and then spending ten years in customer outsourcing at Capita where he advanced to finance director for one of the acquired businesses. He later moved into the legal sector, where he has been since 2017. In his current position, he holds the role of Compliance Officer for Finance & Administration, as well as that of statutory director for the company – and is responsible for all financial aspects of the business, which includes ensuring the safe handling of client money. He also leads the ‘MI’ team, who provide timely and relevant management information to the business in support of operational outcomes.

Mike Nelson
Head of Legal Services Operations
Mike is a ‘Chartered Insurer’ and Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He joined DLG Legal Services at its inception in 2014. Prior to joining DLG Legal Services Mike had vast experience in the Insurance Claims industry, leading and managing large scale claims operations across a variety of disciplines. Since 2014 Mike has led the Personal Injury and Motor Damage operational areas. His focus is to ensure we provide high quality advice and service to our client’s.

Katherine Howells Price
Commercial Operations Manager
Katherine is a senior operations professional with broad experience across the insurance litigation industry. She is a dual-qualified solicitor on the roll in England & Wales and Scotland, and has experience in managing claims teams on both sides of the border, both pursuing and defending. Katherine has worked closely with insurers in the claims environment as well as on consumer legal services to ensure alignment between service delivery and the needs of their policyholders, and is pleased to bring these skills and experience within the Direct Line Group as Commercial Operations Manager for DLG Legal Services.
Katherine has a keen interest in training and development, having been heavily involved in the design and development of Legal Apprenticeships in England, Wales and Scotland, and has been a driving force for widening access to the profession.

Andrew Wright
Risk and Compliance Lead (RCL)
Andy has worked in Legal Compliance/Regulation since 1999, previously working for the Legal Complaints Service (the predecessor to the Legal Ombudsman) and the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Andy has been RCL for DLG Legal Services since 2014. Andy is also the Data Protection Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
Andy maintains the firm’s compliance registers and provides an update on the firm’s compliance position on a monthly basis to Risk and Compliance Committee. Andy provides advice and guidance to staff on all compliance matters that arise on cases. Externally Andy engages with our regulator the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and the various Risk Teams within Direct Line Group as required.
Outside of work Andy enjoys going to the gym, attending a dedicated spin studio and attending a variety of sporting events. The highlights of which have been seeing Andy Murray win Wimbledon in 2016 and being at Super Saturday of London 2012.

Hena Hussain
Professional Development Manager
Hena is our Professional Development Manager here at DLG Legal Services. Hena is a qualified solicitor and after gaining experience in claims handling, supervising and management, started her current role in November 2019.
Hena’s role comprises of Knowledge Management and Development. Knowledge Management includes horizon scanning for any upcoming changes to the law and practice, sharing knowledge, identifying and addressing training needs by either delivering training or arranging it and ensures that our teams remain able to complete their work competently. Hena’s development role includes advising colleagues on the available routes to professional development in legal and non-legal roles as well as mentoring learners to ensure they are supported by us as a company.
In addition to her role Hena manages our LinkedIn Account and is our Deputy COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice).
Hena loves exploring new places at home and abroad, attending fan events for films and TV shows and finding any excuse to dress up; the kids call it cosplay.

Lorraine Hone
Quality Assurance & Complaints Manager
Lorraine is the Quality Assurance and Complaints Manager. She manages a team of Quality Assurance handlers, who complete independent auditing of the operational teams and investigates and responds to complaints for all of DLG Legal Services.
Lorraine’s Quality Assurance team provides analysis of complaints and audit results in order to maintain the very high standards expected of DLG Legal Services.
Lorraine has been in this role in 2018 but has worked for DLG Legal Services since its creation in 2014 and has been working in the claims industry since 2001.

Customer Response & Settlement Manager
Helen Lowe has been a manager within customer facing teams since 2006. Helen manages the majority of customer facing teams responsible for onboarding our customers. In addition, her role extends to managing teams who are responsible for the Settlement handling of claims and general administration work.

Lauren Woodman
Customer Reception & Administration Team Leader
Lauren is the Team Leader for the Customer Reception Team & Administration Team at DLG Legal Services Bristol. Since 2014, Lauren had previously worked as the Legal Claims Administrator on the Employment Litigation Team at DLG Legal services.
Lauren has a Diploma with the Institute of Legal Secretaries and PA’s. She has a wide range of experience dealing with Client’s and carrying out various legal and general administrative tasks. In her current role, Lauren manages a customer facing team and an administrative team. Laurens impeccable organisational skills and drive has allowed her to get involved in a variety of projects which she hopes to continue to do as she expands her knowledge within DLG Legal Services and the wider Group.

Zak Ali
Employment Litigation Team Leader
Zak is the team leader of our employment litigation department. Zak has been an employment lawyer since 2005, acting for both Claimants and Respondents. Zak qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 with the Royal Bank of Scotland before moving to CW Law to focus on employment litigation.
Zak advises individuals on the full range of employment law issues and has particular expertise in discrimination and whistle-blowing disputes. Zak has successfully represented solicitors, accountants, executive directors and healthcare professionals across the UK resulting in significant settlements and Tribunal awards for his clients. Zak is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Nisha Patel
Senior Employment Litigator
Nisha is an employment law specialist. She obtained a degree in Law from the University of Sheffield and completed the Legal Practice Course at Manchester BBP Law School. Nisha qualified as a solicitor in 2016, however she has been specialising in employment Law since 2010
Nisha has experience of supporting both Claimant and Respondent clients in a wide range of employment law matters including, but not limited to, those related to Unfair Dismissal, complex Discrimination (on the grounds of Sex, Disability, Race, Gender, Maternity and Age), Equal Pay and Whistleblowing. Lowri Jones
Employment Litigator
Lowri has worked as an Employment Litigator since September 2015, dealing solely with employment law matters. She has a Graduate Diploma in Law and is consistently thanked by her clients for her empathetic and pragmatic approach to managing their claims. Lowri has experience in all areas of employment law, with particular focus on unfair dismissal and disability discrimination claims. She has successfully negotiated countless settlements for a variety of clients.

Nina joined DLG Legal services in 2022, dealing solely with Employment Law matters. However Nina has been exposed to Employment Law matters since 2020. She is a Law graduate currently qualifying to be a solicitor. She has vast experiencing in Banking, Compliance and Finance. Martin Bailey
Contract and Property Litigation Team Leader
Martin is a solicitor and Team Leader of the Contract Team. He has experience in a wide variety of disputes, including property and contract disputes and currently specialises in contract disputes.

Laura Cavill
Contract and property Litigation Team Leader
Laura has been with the firm since 2012 and has gained a wealth of experience across departments. Laura runs a team of litigators who specialise in contractual and property disputes.
Laura aims to ensure that all clients receive specialist advice and guidance throughout the life of a claim, whether this involves court proceedings or early settlement of a dispute.

Marcus Channer
Senior Litigator
Marcus is a Senior Litigator on the Civil Litigation Team. Since 2015 Marcus has experience providing advice and representation on a wide variety of contract, property, and inheritance disputes from providing initial advice and assessments through to trial and beyond to enforcement.
Marcus’ contract work comprises mainly of construction disputes, negligence claims against professionals, claims under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and travel related disputes. Marcus also has experience in disputes concerning rights of way, nuisance, property damage, and trespass claims. In both his contract and property work Marcus has experience of the Small Claims Track, the Fast Track, and higher value, more complex claims, in the Multi Track.

Joshua Gordon

Joshua is a Civil Litigator within the Civil Litigation Team. Since 2016 Joshua has experience advising on an array of contractual disputes, including basic breaches of contract, breaches of the Consumer Rights Act, misrepresentation and professional negligence. Dusan Manojlovic
Civil Litigator
Dusan is a solicitor in the contracts team of the civil litigation department joining DLG Legal Services in September 2021. He qualified as a solicitor in September 2019 following several years as a paralegal in a busy litigation department at a national insurance law practice.
Dusan’s primary focus is contractual work comprising of building claims, professional negligence, breaches of the consumer rights act and misrepresentation claims. He has experience of both Claimant and Defendant work. Dusan also has previous experience of Personal Injury and Employment law.

Christian Davies
Civil Litigator
Christian is a lawyer within the Civil Litigation Department in Bristol, and has been with the team for 6 years. He specialises in contract, property (trespass, negligence and nuisance), professional negligence, and inheritance matters. Christian has a particular speciality for vehicle disputes.

Alexia Malliaros
Civil Litigator
Alexia has been employed at DLG Legal Services since 2015. She started in the personal injury department before being promoted to the civil litigation department as a litigator with particular focus on travel claims, contract disputes as well as property matters.
She is based in an admitted attorney in The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division. Alexia completed her LLB (Honours) degree in 2012 and attended Law school in 2013. Alexia also completed a conveyance course at the Centre of Conveyancing Practice in 2015.
Her current role includes initial prospect reviews, general administration of files, legal research, obtaining and review of expert evidence, and contact and negotiations with third parties with the aim of settling on a pre-litigation basis.

Lee-Anne Rust

Lee-Anne worked in the personal injury department since 2015 and the Civil Litigation team since 2020. Lee-Anne specialised in Covid-19 travel claims but now focuses on Contract and Property claims.
She has a degree in Bcom Law and is currently furthering her studies. Lee-Anne has been praised by client's for going the extra mile and always trying to put herself in her client's shoes.

William Cole

William is a Litigator within the Civil Litigation Team at DLG Legal Services. William is a first class law graduate with over a years’ litigation experience, both pursuing and defending claims.
William’s primary expertise concerns consumer contract disputes, however, he also confidently manages a small caseload of residential property disputes.

Simon Coleman
Property Litigation Team Leader
Simon is the team leader of the property litigation team at DLG Legal Services which specialises in a range of disputes concerning nuisance, trespass and property damage.
Simon completed his law degree in 2010 and has specialised in property litigation since 2015. He advises clients on all aspects of pre-issue and litigated property disputes with particular expertise in claims concerning boundaries, rights of way, breaches of covenant and easements, noise and vibration nuisance and water damage claims.
Simon also has extensive experience of advising and assisting his clients with alternative means of dispute resolution.
Simon has an empathetic approach to managing his clients’ claims and a proven track record of providing astute and pragmatic advice.
When not at work most of Simon’s time is spent with his family keeping his two young children entertained or out on the local trails on his bike.

Nicky Zardis
Property Litigator
Nicky has been with DLG Legal Services since March 2020. She deals with a wide range of contentious pre-litigated and litigated property disputes, including nuisance, harassment, property damage, adverse possession, rights of way and complex boundary disputes. These cases fall within the Fast Track and high value Multi-Track.
Nicky has a Distinction in Legal Practice Course LLM Master of Laws from the University of Law. Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (FCILEX) since 2014 and qualified as a Solicitor since January 2018.

Luwi Henderson
Property Litigator
Luwi has an extensive background in Law, having studied Law at A level and then at the University of Bristol, before completing her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law (Now University of Law) in 2012. During her studies, Luwi did some pro bono legal advice work, supervised by solicitors, and also worked at the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Since completing her formal education, Luwi has worked exclusively in property disputes litigation for over 11 years, managing claims from first introduction until settlement or trial and therefore gaining vast experience in the area, and still a keenness to keep learning and sharing her knowledge with less experienced colleagues through mentorship and supervision.
Luwi is known for her attention to detail and building rapport with her clients. Luwi takes pride in her ability to be pragmatic and solution focused, whilst remaining empathic and understanding of the ideal outcomes for her clients, demonstrated by her numerous settlements and successful trial outcomes achieved throughout her career and the fantastic client feedback she consistently receives.

Roseanna (Rosie) Child
Property Litigator
Roseanna joined DLG Legal Services in 2022 as a Litigator specialising in property on the Civil Litigation Team, having worked for almost three years in litigation departments within private practice.
Roseanna graduated with a First Class Law Degree in 2019 and has since then gained experience across various areas of civil litigation, thus she is well versed in the Civil Procedure Rules and court processes. Her specialisation however, is in property litigation and she has acted for clients on an array of property disputes including, landlord and tenant matters, service charge and ground rent disputes and Multi-Track nuisance claims.
Throughout her time at university and since then through her experience in practice, Roseanna has developed commendable writing and advocacy skills, having won the Cartwright King Crime Moot of the Year Award 2016 whilst at university and through representing clients at mediations and County Court hearings without the assistance of Counsel. Roseanna also has experience in writing detailed and bespoke Letters of Advice and Letters of Claim on an array of civil litigation matters.
Roseanna is now expanding her practice by studying part-time alongside her role at DLG Legal Services in preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Exams and by undertaking the Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship offered by DLG Legal Services in conjunction with BPP University.
Rosie enjoys practicing yoga and spending time outdoors in her spare time, often combining the two by setting up her mat in her small garden in South East London or attending a class at her local community garden. Rosie also loves to ski and finds the pursuit both relaxing and exhilarating. Rosie likes to spend time enjoying these activities with her friends and family and always looks forward to taking a class or travelling abroad with those she loves.

Gagandeep Mellhi
Property Litigator
Gagandeep is a Senior Property Litigator in the property litigation team at DLG Legal Services. Gagandeep joined DLG Legal Services in December 2022 and has 10 years litigation experience in property and contract litigation. Gagandeep now specialises predominantly in property litigation.
Gagandeep advises and guides clients through a variety of high value and complex property disputes including Party Wall matters, flooding and water ingress, breach of restrictive covenants, adverse possession, boundary disputes, harassment and other property disputes based in nuisance, negligence and trespass, to name but a few. Additionally, Gagandeep advises on First-tier Tribunal claims involving land.

Julia van Vliet
Property Litigator
Julia joined Direct Line Legal Services seven months ago. Julia has a Postgraduate Diploma in Law. Julia advises clients on all aspects of property law and has particular expertise in dealing with claims for boundary disputes, adverse possession, property damage and nuisance. Julia has a keen interest for culture and travelling and has lived in America and Japan. Julia has an interest in all things Japanese and is learning to speak and write the language. Julia also loves Asian food and trying out unique dishes.

Tom Howe
Legal advisor
Tom is a legal advisor in the contract Team at DLG legal services. Tom has completed his LLB and LLM and, prior to the contract team, worked in the Legal Advice straight from University in September 2021.
Tom has provided accessible legal advice over the phone on a wide range of areas, from property issues such as neighbour disputes, easements or damage to their home to personal injury and medical negligence.
Tom now uses his expertise to provide advice on contract law.

Dean Drummie
Motor Damage Team Leader
Dean is a Team Leader within the Motor Damages team, taking up this role in 2019. Dean has vast experience in customer facing roles.
Dean is responsible for a team of up to 10 team members focusing on motor damage litigation services dealing directly with insurers and clients maximising team engagement performance and optimising utilisation of resources and caseload allocation with the aim of delivering the best possible customer experience whilst striving to achieve all financial and operational targets
Prior to Dean’s current role he has already held an After Care Team role between 2013 and 2018 and the role of Settlement manager from 2018-2019.
In my own time I run and play for an amateur football team. I have also participated in various runs for charity but have now reduced the distance and pace to long walks in the country with the family.

Dave Arthur
Motor Damage Technical Lead
Dave is a technical lead working in the motor damage team at DLG Legal Service and has been working in litigation since 2008.
Dave provides technical advice, coaching and training to a team of fee earners enabling them to build their own knowledge and abilities. As well as supporting a team of fee earners Dave has assisted in the development of the companies claims management system.
Dave has a keen interest in photography and has more recently become a drone enthusiast, creating aerial drone videos of locations he visits. Dave enjoys spending time with his family and keeping fit, Dave is a regular Gym user and has taken part in the Ride 100.

Ian Wilmer
Motor Damage Technical Lead
Ian is a technical lead working in the motor damage team at DLG Legal Service and has been working in litigation since 2005 with DLG Legal Services.

Lamara Wright
Motor Damage Team Leader
Lamara is a Team Leader in one of the Motor Damage teams at DLG Legal Services. Lamara has been employed in the company since 2011 and has been her current role since 2017. Lamara is currently completing the Level 3 CILEX course with hopes to become a fully qualified legal executive.
Lamara has been an employee since 2011 where she started as a Settlement Unit Administrator. She then successfully applied for an ILR Motor Damage File Handler role in 2013 where she worked for a further 3 years. In 2016 Lamara applied for a Settlement Team Leader role where she remained for 2 years until an exciting opportunity arose in the form a Motor Damage Team Leader secondment role. Lamara successfully applied for this secondment role until she was made permanent in 2017.
Lamara leads a team of 7 file handlers and one Technical Lead. The File Handlers on average have around 90 cases which they handle from the Defence stage through to the final court hearing. Lamara day to day role consists of motivating her team to deliver high standards of service.
Lamara prides herself in ensuring she always responds to clients in a timely manner and endeavours to resolve any complaints without the need to escalate it.

Mark Cox
Senior Defendant Personal Injury Litigator
Mark is the senior lawyer and team lead in the Defendant team at DLG Legal Services. Mark qualified as a solicitor in March 2001 and achieved the Civil Higher Rights Advocacy qualification in 2010.
Mark has experience of many aspects of personal injury litigation and advocacy across the small, fast and multi-track. Mark has both brought and defended claims for individuals and group actions, self-insured’s and institutional insurers.
Mark has handled claims for slips, trips, and falls, as well as road traffic accidents, product liability, and disease claims. Mark’s experience encompasses both pre and post-litigation aspects including applications, investigations, dispute resolution, costs capping and assessment of costs to trial.
Mark has extensive experience of counter-fraud matters including opportunistic fraud, staged/contrived fraud as well as the complex litigation relating to suspected fraud rings.

Alice Robinson
Solicitor
Alice is a personal injury and insurance solicitor having worked in the industry since 2010. Alice qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2021 and cross qualified as a Solicitor in April 2021.
Alice has worked at DLG Legal Services since March 2019 as a Senior Litigator. Alice has managed a mixed portfolio of multi-track cases including Road Traffic Accidents, Employer’s Liability and Public Liability. Alice has successfully resolved cases with values up £300,000.
Alice has previously worked for insurance companies and solicitors practice acting as a Defendant Litigator for personal injury claims and motor damage claims. She was technical manager for the motor claims department supporting the department in the resolution of motor claims and technical development of the department. She has managed a mixed portfolio of claims up to a value of £1,000,000. Alice has particular experience in claims for chronic pain conditions, significant lower limb orthopaedic conditions and complex psychological conditions. She has successfully supported senior Solicitors on catastrophic injury cases and on the Supreme Court case of Hayward v Zurich.

Ruchi Fowle
Solicitor
Ruchi is a Personal Injury lawyer in the litigation team. She qualified in 2001 and has specialised solely in Claimant personal injury law.
She has experience of dealing with complex claims including loss of earnings and unusual loss of chance claims such as the loss of developing patents and the loss of becoming a PGA professional. She is also well experienced in claims for disadvantage on the labour market, adapted accommodation, chronic pain, CRPS, fibromyalgia, brain and spinal injuries, and claims for provisional damages. Simon Donkin
Senior Multi Track Litigator
Simon is a Multi Track Litigator in the Personal Injury litigation team. He has been with DLG Legal Services since 2020.
Simon has been involved in Claimant personal injury since the late 1990’s, with an extensive knowledge and understanding of complex injury claims. These include claims relating to fatalities, brain injuries and serious and permanent physical injuries.
Simon has particular experience of brain and spinal cord injuries and loss of limb claims that require adapted accommodation and the establishment of case management and care/support worker regimes. He has a Distinction Diploma in Law in Accident Management & Personal Injury.
Nigel has been in the industry since 1990. He specialises in Personal Injury claims & Road Traffic collisions.

Duncan is a Team Leader in the Dispute Resolution Department at DLG Legal Services. Beginning in 2002 as a Motor Claims Negotiator and moving into Personal Injury work in 2003, Duncan has a foundation in being able to process claims efficiently and in turn achieving the best outcomes for his clients.

Kirsty Thewlis

Kirsty is a Team Leader within our Litigation department. She studied CILEx in the early parts of her career and more recently gained a Level 3 Qualification in Leadership and Management with the Chartered Management Institute.
Starting her career as a file handler dealing with Personal Injury claims arising from Road Traffic Accidents, Kirsty has dealt with a vast and varied number of cases since 2002, advising customers on various disputes, securing successful settlements for them and providing excellent customer service throughout their journey.
Since 2002, Kirsty has been dealing with RTA PI claims, with 7 of those years being in managing a team of file handlers. Studied CILEx and has a Level 3 Qualification in Leadership and Management.
Leading a team of 14 employees across 2 locations to deliver not only the business objectives, but also their vision and purpose in providing a great and inclusive customer service.
Kirsty has been a Team Leader in both our Pre-Litigation and Litigation departments, and she also spent 15 months as acting DLG Legal Services Quality Assurance and Complaints Manager. Nikki Sutcliffe

Nikki is a Litigation Team Leader based in our Leeds office. Nikki qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and has worked for the company since qualification. Having studied Law at University Nikki took time out to manage her local MPs constituency office and to travel to Singapore where she worked as a paralegal before returning to the UK to train as a Solicitor.
Nikki started her career within the business as a pre-litigation handler dealing with complex claims and gradually gained the skills required to move into the Litigation department dealing with all types of personal injury including higher value claims. Nikki subsequently secured a role as Litigation Team Leader and People Manager in 2013 and successfully manages a team of 12 Litigator’s and Technical Lead.
Whilst Nikki is always on hand to provide technical advice to her colleagues, her main role is that of People Manager, which involves, recruitment, monitoring performance, drafting Best Practice Guides and developing and supporting team members.
Nikki firmly believes that good customer service and technical knowledge are key elements to developing a successful relationship with clients and in turn achieving the best possible outcome for the case. This is a belief that both her team and legal services share.

Tim Lane
Litigation Team Leader
Tim’s team is based across our offices in Leeds and Bromley.
Tim manages the day to day running of one of our litigation team’s dealing with personal injury claims arising from road traffic accidents, accident at work, slipping and tripping claims, defective goods. Tim’s team also deal with a number of catastrophic injury claims where Claimants have suffered life changing injuries and require the specialist knowledge to ensure that they receive the right rehabilitation, the right compensation in order that they may start to rebuild their lives.
Tim has worked within Personal Injury and Civil Litigation since 1998 with experience in personal injury litigation.
Tim has a vast knowledge of personal injury litigation and has been imparting this knowledge on to his team since 2010. Tim has represented the majority of his previous clients in Court with successful outcomes and again this knowledge and experience has been passed down to his team who now conduct the majority of their own Court hearings ensuring that their clients are represented fully, and outcomes are within their client’s best interests
One of Tim’s notable cases of his career was successfully winning compensation for a client who was exposed to asbestos dust as a teenager in an apprenticeship job and later developed “asbestosis” in his early 40’s resulting in having to have a lung removed. Tim ensured that his client received full compensation for his pain and suffering and that his client’s young family and dependants were provided for, for the rest of their lives.

Michelle is a senior Legal advisor on the Legal advice line of DLG Legal Services.
She qualified as a solicitor in private practice in June 1998. Here she handled a wide variety of general litigation work, covering family law, inheritance disputes and personal injury matters.
